It has been an interesting year, hasn’t it? A time of letting go. Letting go of your routines, your personal freedoms, and, for some, income. But it has also been a time of letting go of our disillusions about ourselves. If there was anything hiding behind the distractions of everyday life, it came to the surface in 2020. Particularly health related issues, whether that was physical, mental or for many people, both.

The most perveying fear amongst all last year was the collapse of the medical systems, because the overall health of our country is so poor. This is a systemic issue and one that the average American is beginning to wake up to. Being the eternal optimist that I am, I hope that now in this time of enlightenment, we each choose to live a healthier life by doing things to support our bodies before there is a meltdown -i.e. disease.

I believe we are all ready to let go: let go of the standards of health in our past, the status quo of reactive versus proactive health care, and let go of the phrase “This is how it’s always been.”

My goal is to educate people in the community on how amazing our bodies are and how with proper support our bodies are capable of thriving. Being a chiropractor has taught me how to support the nervous system through adjusting the spine, but my time as a human on this earth has taught me how to support our whole being.

The key to supporting the whole self is limiting exposure and strengthening assets.

Limiting exposure is simple, but not always easy. We live in an increasingly toxic and complicated world. We must limit the amount of toxins we are exposed to by making some obvious healthy choices- organic food, filtered water, and air purification.

However, there are some toxins that are not as commonly talked about. A primary example is toxic thoughts. Sometimes unresolved emotional patterns, especially ones we don't want to deal with, can be “tucked away” by the body. It is a defense mechanism. Your brain is always trying to avoid pain, in this case emotional pain, and move toward pleasure. Occasionally, this process gets a little over zealous, manifesting as physical pain. Awareness is our greatest strength because it facilitates choice. Choice is how we limit the exposure of toxic thought. We cannot address what we are not aware of.

Once we have limited our exposure, then we have to strengthen our assets by enabling our nervous system to do what it does best - orchestrate all the functions of the human body.

We are all just electrical beings, and I am an electrician for the body.

It is time to let go of our outdated approach of waiting for the body to wave the red flag (ie-pain/symptoms) before addressing what our bodies really need. We are all ready to step into something new.
