🕊Abundant Balance | Heather Josten, LMT, CPT-RES

Heather’s top three tips for reducing stress this holiday season:

  1. Walk daily - #optoutside!

  2. Schedule down-time in your calendar - everyone needs to rest.

  3. Don’t forget to MOVE your body! Restorative exercise is a great way to de-stress and reduce pain.

🕊 Function First Chiropractic | Dr. Ashley Jefferies

Health comes from above down, inside out. Your brain and nervous system control every other function of your body, so see your chiropractor to make sure there is no interference with your brain-body connection! Remove stress, tension, and discomfort for more ease this holiday season and always!

🕊 Invincible Co | Dr. Missy Albrecht

Treat your organs this holiday season, with these things in mind:

  • Experience your food fully so your digestive system is ready (see it, smell it, chew it, taste it)

  • If your bowels get backed up, avoid pushing on the toilet. Try breathing into your abdomen and pelvic floor instead, finding anything you can use under your feet to get your knees above your hopes (squatty potty, stool, trash can)

  • The holidays can be emotional, so allow your body to process (instead of store in your organs!) The emotions through productive activities like exercise, dancing, pushing a wall, punching a pillow, talking to someone you trust.

🕊 Joanne Trujillo L.Ac MSOM

Consider taking an adaptogen regularly during the holiday season to counteract the effects of stress in the body. Stress harms the neurological, endocrine, and immune systems. The result is fatigue, insomnia, impaired cognitive function, decreased ability to fight off colds and flu, and mood changes.

Adaptogenic herbs help to support the adrenal glands, manage stress related hormones, and keep your immune system strong and healthy. Plus they are have many anti-aging benefits!

Here are my favorite Chinese Herbal Adaptogens to help you manage stress and energy anytime of the year. Adaptogens work best when taken on a regular daily basis.

  1.  Asian Ginseng (Panax ginseng) : improves energy by boosting ATP production within cells, and helps to regulate cortisol (our stress hormone) in the body. This root is stimulating and is excellent for reducing signs of burn-out.

  2. Cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps sinensis): an ancient Chinese remedy used to tonify our primary Jing, or life force. It increases oxygen utilization, increases ATP production to boost energy, and improves immune function.

  3. Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum): this fungus tonifies our adrenal glands to boost energy, calms the nervous system to manage stress and anxiety, plus improves immune function to keep you feeling healthy and strong.

🕊 Moss North Therapy | Melissa Haile, LMT

In order to live life in power and with ease you must prioritize taking care of yourself. Regularly scheduled massages, immerse yourself with people who make you feel good and listen to music that touches your soul.

🕊 Mountain Meadow Therapeutics | Amber Jacobson, LMT

Holiday tips:

  • Breathe, avoid shallow breathing and take some deep breaths. Try inhaling 3 counts, holding for 3 counts, then exhaling for 3 counts. This relaxes the central nervous system and brings our center of awareness back. It's easy to get wrapped up in the fast-paced energy of the holiday season. Keep yourself grounded by taking a deep breath every time you catch yourself breathing shallowly or hardly at all.

  • #optoutside! Even though the frigid temperatures make it hard, getting into nature, specifically the mountains and wooded areas has been shown to boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, improve things such as your sleep, mood, and energy levels, and help you maintain better focus day today. It doesn't have to be extensive movement, just enough to get the energy flowing.

  • Last, set boundaries! Don't feed into something you're resisting. If you don't want to attend a certain event, be around certain people, or put on a smile, honor those feelings. The most important gift we can give ourselves is our mental health. Take care of yourself first and have a happy holiday from Mountain Meadow Therapeutics!

🕊 Soulfight Counseling | Melina Rodriguez, M.A., LPCC

Remember the importance of setting your boundaries this holiday season. Don’t over-extend yourself through external expectations. You have a right to your time and energy.
